State Rep. Lynn Afendoulis (R-Grand Rapids) wished everyone a happy Thanksgiving on a Facebook post on Nov. 28.
"We live in a beautiful state surrounded by one of the world's largest bodies of freshwater, graced by dunes and rivers and forests, powered by a strong Midwest work ethic, and driven by the hope of being and doing better," Afendoulis said in her post. "I am grateful for all of that. And for family and health and the things that matter more than anything money can buy."
Afendoulis said that while nothing is perfect and there are many important issues that need to be addressed in the state, she wanted to focus on the holiday.

"It's powerful, it's beautiful and I am grateful for all of it and for you for giving me the honor of being your state representative," Afendoulis said. "For those among us who struggle to find things for which to give thanks, let's offer prayers and a helping hand so they, too, know what it is to live with gratitude."
