Congresswoman Hillary Scholten has recently shared her experiences and thoughts on various community and national matters through a series of social media posts. On April 23, Scholten expressed her appreciation for local talent in West Michigan by acknowledging the participants in this year’s Congressional Art Competition. She conveyed her admiration through a post stating, “Who needs the Louvre when you have such talent right here in West Michigan?! Thank you to every participant in this year’s Congressional Art Competition, I am so impressed by all of you!”.

Later the same day, Scholten discussed the honor of participating in a citizenship ceremony, highlighting the importance of protecting democracy. Her post read, “What a profound honor to help swear-in some of our country’s newest citizens. This ceremony reminded me of why we fight so hard to protect our democracy and work every day toward a more perfect union.”.

On April 24, Scholten took to social media to address Holocaust remembrance. She issued a call to fight against hatred and antisemitism as well as to honor those who lost their lives, stating, “Today, we remember the horrors of the Holocaust, honor the innocent lives brutally taken, and recommit ourselves to fighting back against hatred and antisemitism in all its forms.”.

Scholten, aged 41, is a native of Grand Rapids, Michigan. She earned her BA from Gordon College in 2004 and later received her JD from the University of Maryland, Baltimore in 2011.
