Hillary Scholten, U.S. Congresswoman representing Michigan’s 3rd district since 2023, recently shared her perspectives on key issues through social media. A former attorney and a legislator since replacing Peter Meijer, Scholten provided her viewpoints on a series of current affairs impacting her constituency and the wider American public.

On April 9, 2025, Scholten praised the work of the @aaacdfi in her first tweet of the day. She stated, “The leaders at @aaacdfi are empowering Black CEOs across the country to soar to their full potential. Their meaningful work is so important for our Black business owners. Great to meet with them today!” Her message highlights her support for initiatives aimed at promoting minority entrepreneurship and leadership.

In another tweet later the same day, Scholten criticized recent legislative actions by the Republican party, focusing on financial issues. She asserted, “Republicans are RAISING costs for everyday Americans. They just voted to RAISE overdraft fees on folks trying to put food on the table or make it to the next paycheck. This bill puts big banks and their wealthy CEOs ahead of consumers – including service members, veterans, and” Her critique indicates her disapproval of measures perceived to burden average citizens financially in favor of banks.

In a subsequent post, Scholten addressed what she described as a detrimental budget proposal. She noted, “The budget proposal we’re voting on is BAD for everyday Americans. The only people it benefits are the top 1% — the billionaire buddies of our billionaire president. Let’s talk about it.” This message reflects her opposition to policies she views as disproportionately beneficial to the nation’s wealthiest segment.
