Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, representing Michigan’s 3rd district, has recently expressed her concerns on various issues through a series of tweets. These posts reflect her commitment to addressing ethical standards within the Department of Justice, supporting small businesses amidst federal policy changes, and ensuring aviation safety through legislative measures.

On February 15, 2025, Scholten tweeted about her past service at the Department of Justice and her current concerns regarding potential ethics violations by appointees from former President Trump. She stated: “I proudly served at @TheJusticeDept before being elected to Congress, which is why I’m so concerned about the potential ethics violations of Trump’s appointees at the DOJ.” She emphasized standing with fellow former DOJ employees in Congress to advocate for a thorough investigation into these matters.

Later that day, Scholten addressed the challenges faced by small businesses due to executive orders and funding uncertainties under Trump’s administration. In her tweet from February 15, she remarked: “Small businesses — including childcare centers — are facing uncertainty because of President Trump’s executive orders and federal funding scare.” She mentioned discussing these issues during a hearing with the House Small Business Committee Democrats.

On February 16, Scholten turned her attention to aviation safety by calling on FAA Administrator Duffy to implement the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024. Her tweet stated: “I’m standing with my @TransportDems colleagues to call on FAA Administrator Duffy to do his job and implement the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024 to ensure aviation and passenger safety.” The bipartisan bill aims to improve aging infrastructure in aviation.
