On May 5, 2025, Scholten announced the launch of her new series “Straight Talk With Scholten,” where she aims to discuss pressing issues candidly. The first episode focuses on “Trump’s failed 100-day economy.”

Later that day, she criticized her Republican colleagues for focusing on what she considers a “non-issue.” In her tweet from May 5, 2025, at 23:03:05 UTC, she expressed frustration about voting on matters already settled by executive order. She stated “There’s so much important work to do, West Michigan. This is not it.”

The following day, May 6, 2025, Scholten acknowledged National Nurses Day by expressing gratitude towards nurses in a tweet posted at 16:12:12 UTC. She highlighted their essential role in healthcare delivery and conveyed appreciation with “THANK YOU to hard-working nurses everywhere.”

Hillary Scholten was born in Grand Rapids in 1982 and resides there currently. She graduated from Gordon College with a BA in 2004 and earned a JD from the University of Maryland in Baltimore in 2011.
