Hillary Scholten highlights parks advocacy and immigration reform efforts

Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, who represents Michigan’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, has recently used her social media platform to address issues ranging from community recreation spaces to immigration reform.

On July 13, Scholten highlighted the importance of public parks and recreational areas for communities in her district and nationwide. In a post made during National Park and Recreation Month, she stated, “Parks and recreational spaces are essential to healthy and sustainable communities in MI-03 and across the country. This National Park and Recreation Month, we’ll keep working to protect our parks and ensure they are accessible and enjoyable for all.” (July 13, 2025)

Later that week, on July 15, Scholten addressed ongoing challenges within the nation’s immigration system. She wrote, “Our immigration system is in desperate need of comprehensive reform. I’m proud to stand with a group of bipartisan colleagues in Congress to reintroduce the Dignity Act — a bill that would reform our immigration system while addressing workforce issues and bring dignity to” (July 15, 2025).

Hillary Scholten has represented Michigan’s 3rd District since replacing Peter Meijer in Congress in 2023. Born in Grand Rapids in 1982, she continues to reside there. Scholten holds a BA from Gordon College (2004) and a JD from the University of Maryland, Baltimore (2011).
