Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, who represents Michigan’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of updates on her official social media account regarding community engagement and regional development.
On February 1, 2026, Scholten invited constituents to participate in an initiative for local veterans. She wrote, “Want to thank a veteran this Valentine’s Day? Send in a valentine to our Grand Rapids office by February 7th! We’ll deliver all of them on our Valentine’s Day visit to our veterans. There’s nothing quite like a handwritten note to share our heartfelt gratitude with those who have” (posted February 1, 2026).
Later that day, Scholten acknowledged achievements at the Gerald R. Ford International Airport (GRR), stating, “Congratulations to the team at GRR on breaking another passenger record. Serving more than 4.3 million travelers in 2025 is a big win for West Michigan families, businesses, and visitors. I’ll keep working to support smart infrastructure investments that help our region grow and” (posted February 1, 2026).
In another post from the same date, Scholten highlighted efforts to connect local organizations with federal funding opportunities: “I am committed to making federal dollars deliver for West Michigan. That’s why I created a grants newsletter – to help local governments, schools, nonprofits, and organizations of every size stay informed about funding opportunities and resources. Sign up to stay in the loop and” (posted February 1, 2026).
Hillary Scholten has served as U.S. Representative for Michigan’s 3rd District since replacing Peter Meijer in 2023. Born in Grand Rapids in 1982 and currently residing there at age 41, she brings both personal connection and professional experience to her role as legislator for the area she calls home. Scholten graduated from Gordon College with a BA in 2004 and earned her JD from the University of Maryland, Baltimore in 2011.
