Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, who represents Michigan’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed several issues on her official social media account, including public health awareness, constituent services, and international cooperation.

On March 7, 2026, Scholten posted about Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month: “March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. Cases are rising among people under 50, making early detection more important than ever. Screening saves lives, and I encourage everyone to talk with their doctor about when to get screened.”

Later that day, she highlighted constituent services available through her office: “Is a federal agency giving you the runaround? Do you need help getting your Social Security, your tax return, or another federal benefit? My team and I are here to help. Please give us a call at (616) 451-8383 and we can help you like we helped Sue!”

On March 9, 2026, Scholten discussed international relations following a meeting with Canadian officials: “Great meeting with Canadian partners to discuss the U.S.–Canada relationship, protecting the Great Lakes, and the importance of opening the Gordie Howe International Bridge to strengthen trade and our shared economy.”

Scholten has served as Michigan’s 3rd District representative since 2023 after succeeding Peter Meijer. She was born in Grand Rapids in 1982 and continues to reside there. Scholten holds a BA from Gordon College (2004) and a JD from the University of Maryland, Baltimore (2011).
