Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, representing Michigan’s 3rd district since 2023, has recently shared her legislative efforts and community engagements through a series of tweets. Scholten, who was born in Grand Rapids in 1982 and holds degrees from Gordon College and the University of Maryland, Baltimore, is focusing on enhancing domestic manufacturing and supporting small businesses.

On May 6, Scholten emphasized the importance of increasing Michigan-made goods to strengthen America’s position as a global manufacturing leader. She stated: “Increasing our Michigan-made goods is how we outcompete China and secure America’s position as a global manufacturing powerhouse.” She mentioned working on legislation to support domestic manufacturers like Sun Chemical in Muskegon.

The following day, May 7, Scholten expressed pride in hosting Tammy Myers at the Unite Against Breast Cancer rally in Washington. Myers is a breast cancer survivor turned advocate from West Michigan. Scholten highlighted the significance of cancer research funding by stating: “Cancer research funding is a lifeline for countless Americans.”

Later that day, she recognized National Small Business Week by acknowledging the contributions of small businesses to West Michigan’s economy. In her tweet, she affirmed her commitment to supporting these enterprises: “These businesses are the foundation of our economy.”

Hillary Scholten continues to focus on initiatives that bolster local industries and community welfare while serving as a U.S. Congress member for Michigan’s 3rd District.
