Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, who represents Michigan’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, recently highlighted her ongoing engagement with constituents and support for local industry and social programs through a series of posts on social media.

On August 13, Scholten shared her appreciation for community participation at a recent event: “Another great town hall in the books! Thanks to those who joined me in Muskegon for my seniors town hall, part of my Scholten Summer Town Hall Series. I’m continuing to work for our senior neighbors to ensure that they have what they need to live out their golden years with ease.”

The following day, she emphasized her stance on national security and domestic manufacturing, stating on August 14: “When it comes to our national security, I’m all for our defense vehicles being made in America — and even better — made in West Michigan. RENK, a Muskegon-based manufacturer, employs hundreds of community members, including veterans, and is working hard to keep our nation secure”.

Later that same day, Scholten marked the anniversary of Social Security’s establishment by President Franklin D. Roosevelt: “On this day 90 years ago, FDR signed Social Security into law, so all Americans can retire with dignity. Nine decades later, Social Security has never missed a payment, and I’m working to protect these crucial benefits for millions of Americans. #SocSec90”.

Hillary Scholten began serving as the representative for Michigan’s 3rd congressional district in 2023 after succeeding Peter Meijer. She was born in Grand Rapids in 1982 and continues to reside there. Scholten holds a BA from Gordon College (2004) and earned her JD from the University of Maryland, Baltimore in 2011.
