Hillary Scholten, a Congresswoman representing Michigan’s 3rd district, shared a series of tweets addressing key political issues and personal concerns. Scholten, who succeeded Peter Meijer in 2023, highlighted matters pertaining to family values, healthcare, and labor rights in her posts.

In a tweet dated April 5, 2025, Scholten expressed her disapproval of a potential modification in proxy voting rights that might exclude new fathers. She stated, “If they cut dads out of proxy voting for new parents, it’s not just a slap in the face to the male members of Congress trying to be good dads, but also to their wives/new mammas. And it’s so insulting.” She emphasized the challenges congressional families endure, indicating her support for family inclusivity in legislative practices.

Continuing her advocacy for healthcare, on April 5, 2025, Scholten highlighted her commitment to preserving Medicaid benefits for West Michiganders. She tweeted, “Medicaid is a life-saver for so many West Michiganders, which is why I’m fighting hard to protect it and prevent funding cuts.” Scholten further urged the public to share how potential funding cuts to Medicaid might impact them, encouraging engagement with her office.

On April 6, 2025, Scholten publicly supported efforts to uphold collective bargaining rights for federal employees. In her message, “.@HouseDemocrats are standing strong in support of American workers. We called on President Trump to rescind his March 27th executive order that strips collective bargaining rights for millions of federal employees,” Scholten reinforced the Democratic stance against policy changes perceived as detrimental to workers’ rights.
