On January 23, 2025, Scholten commemorated the anniversary of the 24th Amendment with a call to action: “Today we celebrate the anniversary of the 24th Amendment and the subsequent ending of poll taxes, which made it harder for poor — mainly Black Americans — to vote. Let us continue working to expand access to the ballot box to ensure every American voter’s voice is heard.”
In another post on January 23, 2025, she expressed support for immigrants willing to contribute positively to the United States by stating: “Let’s bring these folks here, who are ready to help make America even greater!”
Also on January 23, 2025, Scholten urged President Trump to fulfill commitments made to allies and admit vetted individuals from Afghanistan into the U.S., emphasizing West Michigan’s welcoming community. She stated: “President Trump must make good on our promise to our allies, honor our commitment to these individuals, and admit them. They have already undergone thorough vetting and preparation. West Michigan is home to so many wonderful Afghan families.”
