Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, who represents Michigan’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, addressed several issues affecting her constituents in a series of posts on March 11 and 12, 2026.
On March 11, Scholten commented on the impact of global events on local fuel costs, stating, “Gas prices in West Michigan are rising as oil climbs above $100 a barrel. When families here at home feel the impact of global conflict, Congress has a responsibility to ask tough questions and demand accountability.”
Later that day, she shared her experience meeting athletes at a local event: “I met some incredible athletes today at the Special Olympics North America Athlete Congress in Grand Rapids. It’s so inspiring to see the leadership and confidence they’re building together.”
On March 12, Scholten issued a statement regarding an incident in West Bloomfield: “My Statement on the Attack in West Bloomfield.”
Hillary Scholten began serving as representative for Michigan’s 3rd district after replacing Peter Meijer in 2023. She was born in Grand Rapids in 1982 and continues to reside there. Scholten holds a BA from Gordon College and earned her JD from the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
