Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, who represents Michigan’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of updates on her official social media account regarding legislative oversight, local environmental efforts, and federal healthcare policy.

On March 24, 2026, Scholten shared a letter addressed to Inspector General Cuffari requesting an investigation into Mr. Sean Plankey. She wrote: “My letter to Inspector General Cuffari requesting an investigation into Mr. Sean Plankey.” (March 24, 2026).

Later that evening, Scholten highlighted the return of the walleye run in West Michigan and praised the Department of Natural Resources’ annual efforts: “Spring in West Michigan means the walleye run is back on the Muskegon River.
The DNR’s annual egg collection helps keep our waters healthy and our fish populations strong.”

In another post that same day, she criticized President Trump and Congressional Republicans for their stance on healthcare tax credits: “President Trump and Congressional Republicans are putting millions at risk by denying an extension of the Affordable Care Act tax credits.
We need to put the people who elected us first.”

Scholten has served as a member of Congress since replacing Peter Meijer in 2023. She was born in Grand Rapids in 1982 and continues to reside there. Her educational background includes a BA from Gordon College and a JD from the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
