Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, who represents Michigan’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on March 26, 2026, addressing issues ranging from equal pay to election security and women’s leadership.

In her first post, Scholten addressed wage disparities: “Women are still paid less than men for the same work, and the gap is getting worse. On Equal Pay Day, I’m standing with my colleagues to push for equal pay for equal work and finally close the wage gap.” (March 26, 2026).

Later that day, Scholten commented on election integrity and legislation concerning noncitizen voting: “Our elections are secure and noncitizen voting is illegal. In fact, getting struck by lightning is more common than noncitizen voting. The SAVE Act claims to solve a problem that doesn’t exist while putting millions of eligible Americans’ votes at risk.” (March 26, 2026).

She also acknowledged former Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s birthday in a separate post: “Happy Birthday, @speakerpelosi. As the first woman to represent West Michigan in Congress, I know how much it matters to see women in leadership. Your legacy has helped pave the way for the next generation, and I’m proud to get to stand next to you in service to this country.” (March 26, 2026).

Scholten began serving as U.S. Representative for Michigan’s 3rd district in 2023 after succeeding Peter Meijer. She was born in Grand Rapids in 1982 and continues to reside there. Scholten earned her BA from Gordon College in 2004 and completed her JD at the University of Maryland, Baltimore in 2011.
