Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, who represents Michigan’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, addressed several issues on July 26, 2025, through a series of posts on her official social media account.

In her first post of the day, Scholten commented on recent developments regarding federal education funding: “Our educators and public school systems deserve stability and continuity. I’m glad to see billions of $ of funding that the Trump Administration was withholding be released, but make no mistake, this funding shouldn’t have been withheld in the first place.” (July 26, 2025).

Later that afternoon, Scholten shared her involvement in renaming a local post office: “It was my honor to lead the charge to rename the Comstock Park Post Office to the Captain Miguel Justin Nava Post Office, and I was so touched to stand with his family and the Comstock Park community at the renaming ceremony yesterday. Read more here.” (July 26, 2025).

In another statement posted in the evening regarding legislative policy debates in Congress, Scholten wrote: “No matter what Congressional Republicans and President Trump say, the clear losers of H.R. 1 are everyday Americans. Their health care costs are going to rise while ultra-wealthy billionaires get huge tax breaks.” (July 26, 2025).

Hillary Scholten has served as U.S. Representative for Michigan’s 3rd District since replacing Peter Meijer in 2023. She was born in Grand Rapids in 1982 and continues to reside there. Scholten holds a BA from Gordon College (2004) and a JD from the University of Maryland, Baltimore (2011).
