Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, who represents Michigan’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed a range of topics on her social media account, including healthcare policy, local sports achievements, and government spending.
On March 23, 2026, Scholten posted about the ongoing significance of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), stating: “Sixteen years in, the Affordable Care Act still means real coverage for people who used to go without. I’m fighting to protect the ACA and drive costs down so health care is within reach for West Michigan.”
Later that day, she celebrated a local collegiate sports milestone: “The University of Michigan women’s basketball team is heading to the Sweet 16. Proud to see them representing Michigan so well—Go Blue!”
On March 24, Scholten emphasized her stance on fiscal responsibility and transparency in government expenditures. She wrote: “When taxpayer dollars are spent on luxury items, vanity projects, or wasteful travel, you have every right to ask questions. I’m going to keep fighting for transparency, accountability, and responsible spending. Watch the full episode of Straight Talk With Scholten on YouTube.”
Scholten has served as the representative for Michigan’s 3rd District since 2023 after succeeding Peter Meijer. She was born in Grand Rapids in 1982 and continues to reside there. Scholten earned her undergraduate degree from Gordon College in 2004 and later received a JD from the University of Maryland, Baltimore in 2011.
