Ferris State University’s women’s tennis team concluded a challenging schedule with a victory against Saginaw Valley State on Sunday at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center. This win marked their second consecutive triumph, elevating their record to 8-6 overall and 3-1 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The team achieved success in doubles play, with Kennedy Dumas and Maria Fernanda Hernandez Ferrer securing a 7-5 win in the first position. Yara Madi and Aimee Reynoso also contributed with a 6-3 victory in the second spot.

In singles matches, Yara Madi notched a dominant 6-1, 6-1 win in the second position, while Kennedy Dumas won 6-4, 6-4 at the third spot. Maria Fernanda Hernandez Ferrer sealed the team’s overall victory with a straight-set win at the fifth flight.

“I really want to give major props to our women’s team as they don’t typically play three conference matches in a single weekend,” commented FSU head coach Mark Doren. “Despite playing three days in a row, they kept a great attitude and beat two really good teams to close out the weekend.”

Ferris State is set to face Michigan Tech in their next league match on Friday, April 4, at 2 p.m. (ET) in Houghton.
