The Ferris State University women’s tennis team commenced its participation in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional Championships on Saturday with promising results. The event, held in West Michigan, saw the Bulldogs in action from 8:30 a.m. until late evening, with at least one participant competing almost continuously throughout the day.

Out of nine competitors from Ferris State, eight secured at least one singles victory. Notably, three players represented FSU in the main A draw. FSU was among only four teams to have three student-athletes advance past the first round out of the 22 schools from the Midwest Region participating.

Ana Hernandez faced one of the top-ranked players nationally in her second-round match and narrowly lost with a 10-8 score in a closely contested third set.

In doubles play, Kennedy Dumas and Maria Hernandez achieved a significant victory in their first-round match.

The Bulldogs are set to continue their efforts on Sunday with further singles matches in the A draw and a second-round doubles match featuring Dumas and Hernandez.
