The Ferris State University women’s golf team is preparing to compete in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships this weekend. The competition will take place from Friday through Sunday, April 25-27, in Augusta, Michigan, at the Stonehedge North Golf Course, near Battle Creek.

The annual championship maintains a format introduced five years ago, consisting of each league school participating in 36 holes of stroke play. Out of five scores, the lowest four will contribute to the team’s score. After the second round, the top four teams will move on to head-to-head medal play on Saturday, using a bracket system similar to that of the NCAA Championships. The final match on Sunday will determine the GLIAC Champion.

The venue, Gull Lake View Golf Club & Resort, boasts six championship courses. This unique configuration allows players to tackle 18 different holes daily over six days without repeating any hole.

The Ferris State women’s team is scheduled to start the tournament on Friday at 10 a.m. Eastern Time. Historically, the team has secured five GLIAC Championships, having won the title two years ago and reached the semifinals last year.
