Ferris State women’s golf secures runner-up finish; Shannon earns first collegiate win

The Ferris State University women’s golf team secured a second-place finish at the Bulldog Fall Classic held at FSU’s Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids. This marked their second consecutive runner-up position, following their performance at the Gilda’s Club Laker Fall Invite in Allendale over the weekend.

The Bulldogs ended Monday’s competition with a +49 score across 36 holes, shooting rounds of 315 and 310. They finished seven shots behind Grand Valley State, who claimed the team championship.

Junior golfer Kamryn Shannon achieved her first collegiate win by earning individual medalist honors. She completed the day with a +5 overall score for two rounds, totaling 149 with scores of 74 and 75. Shannon edged out Charlotte Goersch of GVSU by two shots and had previously set a school-record round of 68 on Sunday at the Laker Fall Invite.

FSU’s Hallie Crozier recorded scores of 79 and 76 in both rounds to secure seventh place overall with a total of 155. Lizzie Anderson finished in 17th place with a total score of 160, shooting rounds of 81 and 79.

Taylor Musselman tied for 18th place with a total score of 161 after posting an initial round score of 81 followed by an 80. Kylie Walker shot rounds of 82 and then improved to an 81, tying for the 21st position with a total score of 163.

Ashley Thomasma competed individually and tied for the twelfth spot with a total stroke count of 158 from rounds scored at an even split between an initial round score of eighty followed by seventy-eight. Katelyn Walker also participated as an individual competitor, finishing thirty-fourth overall with consistent scores totaling one hundred seventy-two across both rounds. Lauren Kempf rounded out Ferris State’s competitors tying for thirty-seventh after scoring eighty-four initially then concluding ninety-two leading to one hundred seventy-six as her final tally.

Ferris State is scheduled to conclude its fall season on October twenty-first through twenty-second at the St. Leo Invitational in Dade City, Florida.
