The Ferris State University women’s tennis team began Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) competition with a 5-2 victory against Saginaw Valley State on March 19 at the Greater Midland Tennis Center.
This result marks an important start for the Bulldogs, who improved their overall record to 7-5. The team secured the doubles point by winning all three matches and took four out of six singles contests. Four of the singles matches extended to a third set, highlighting a competitive meeting between both squads. Saginaw Valley State dropped to 6-6 overall and remains winless in conference play at 0-2.
Ferris State’s lineup included victories in doubles from Maria Hernandez and Ana Hernandez, Ayva Johnstone and Madeline Peisley, as well as Yara Madi and Ainzley Zulueta. In singles action, Peisley, Ana Hernandez, Maria Hernandez, and Zulueta each claimed wins for Ferris State. The Bulldogs will continue GLIAC play on March 27 at Davenport before facing Grand Valley State on March 28.
The program participates in NCAA Division II competitions within the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference against regional and national opponents according to the official website.
