Ferris State University’s track and field teams had a notable performance over the weekend with student-athletes competing in two meets. The Bulldogs participated in the Davenport Invitational in Caledonia and the Central Michigan Chippewa Challenge in Mount Pleasant on April 11 and 12.

The teams achieved a total of 12 performances that ranked in the school’s all-time top 10 charts and secured 39 top-eight finishes, with three individuals winning their events.

FSU’s Rebecca Marvin finished sixth in the discus and seventh in the shot put at the Davenport Invitational. In men’s events, Devon Strobel’s second-place discus throw reached the fifth-best in Ferris State’s history, while Devin Dennison, Jack Romel, and Noah Jones also earned top placements.

At the Chippewa Challenge, Allie Delost secured fourth place in the 100 meters, clocking ninth-fastest in program history. Darnesha Fraley’s fourth place in the 200 meters added another top-ten school performance. Abby Winkle, Kendra Montague, Ella Kowatch, Abby Griffith, and Taylor Huntoon all ranked in the top eight in various events.

Whitney Farrell won the 3,000 meters, while Emily Plouff secured the third-best 3,000 steeplechase time in the program’s history. Other notable performances came from Angela Kotechki in the long jump and Alexis Le in the high jump. The women’s 4×100-meter relay team clocked a time that ranks fourth in school history.

For the men’s team at CMU, Charlie Sutton and Bryson Fronta performed strongly in the 100 and 200 meters. Jared Watchorn, Josh Langeland, and Blake Ferguson excelled in the 800 meters. In the high jump, Hayden Josef claimed a first-place finish with the eighth-best jump in school history.

The Bulldogs also placed strongly in relay events, with the men’s team securing top times in both the 4×100-meter and 4×400-meter relays. Ferris State will continue their season at the Al Owens Classic in Allendale on April 18-19.
