The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced on March 12 that Ferris State University swept its weekly tennis awards for the sixth week of the 2026 spring season, with junior Kevin Kovacs and freshman Madeline Peisley recognized as top performers.

These awards highlight the achievements of Ferris State’s men’s and women’s tennis teams during their annual spring break trip, where both Kovacs and Peisley delivered strong performances in matches earlier this week. The Bulldogs are scheduled to conclude their trip on Friday, March 13, with matches against Eckerd in Florida.

Kovacs earned Men’s Athlete of the Week after securing two singles victories and two doubles wins. He defeated Mario Garoz of Florida Southern, who is ranked fifteenth nationally, in straight sets and partnered with Felipe Iser for a doubles win. Kovacs continued his success by winning at one singles and three doubles against Augustana (South Dakota), finishing the two matches with a perfect record as Ferris State improved to a 9-2 overall mark this season.

Peisley was named Women’s Athlete of the Week following her efforts at one singles during close contests against Florida Southern and Augustana. She won both her singles matches—one in three sets against Florida Southern and another in straight sets versus Augustana—while also competing in doubles alongside Yara Madi.
