The Ferris State University men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams competed in three separate meets over the weekend, according to an April 19 announcement. Student-athletes from both teams participated at the Elaine Leigh Invite hosted by Oakland University, the Calvin Invite in Grand Rapids, and the Sean Collier Invitational in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
These competitions are significant as they reflect ongoing efforts to develop student-athletes for excellence in track and field events through structured support and coaching, as outlined on the official website of Ferris State Bulldogs Women’s Track and Field according to the official website.
At Oakland University, Frances Hoffman won the women’s 400 hurdles with a time of 1:08.01 while Kenna Barber finished fifth. Whitney Farrell secured first place in the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase with a NCAA Provisional Qualifying time of 10:57.72. The women’s team also saw Jessica Durkee finish sixth in the 1,500 meters and Ella Kowatch place fifth in the collegiate division of the 800 meters. The women’s relay squads achieved first place in the 4×100-meter relay (49.41) and fourth place in the 4×400-meter relay (4:13.54).
On the men’s side at Oakland, Carson Guysi placed third in the 100 meters (10.86), Lucas Sefferlein was third in the 400 meters (48.64), Chase Segaar finished fifth (50.19), while Josh Langeland took fifth place in the 800 meters (1:57.21). Emmett Johnson was fourth overall for FSU’s men’s team at Oakland with a time of 14:59.01 for five kilometers.
At Calvin College’s meet on Saturday, Maddy Biller placed fifth for Ferris State women’s team with a hammer throw distance of 137-0 feet while Meaghan Robertson came eighth overall for discus throwers at that event.
Ferris State Bulldogs Women’s Track and Field competes at varsity level within NCAA Division II as members of Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference according to their official website. The program is affiliated with Ferris State University as well as this conference per its official site, collaborating closely with men’s teams through shared coaching staff as noted online.
