The Ferris State University men’s and women’s tennis teams each recorded 6-1 wins against Purdue Northwest on April 11 at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) action.

These matches were significant for both programs, with the women’s team celebrating Senior Day and the men maintaining their lead in the league standings. The results underscore Ferris State’s strong position within NCAA Division II tennis competition as a member of the GLIAC, according to the official website.

Head coach Mark Doren said, “I’m so proud of our two women’s seniors, Ana and Maria Hernandez, who kept their emotions in check today and turned in one of their best performances on court in their time here at Ferris.” Doren continued about the men’s match: “On the men’s side, it was an emotional roller coaster. We played fantastic doubles, but then Purdue Northwest came out extremely strong in singles. Throughout the three hours of singles play, it was anyone’s match to win. But, the guys really stepped up and finished super strong, which keeps us in first place in the GLIAC heading into next weekend’s final regular-season match.”

The women’s team won all doubles matches for an early lead before capturing five straight-set singles victories to improve to an overall record of 11-6 and a conference mark of 5-1. The men also swept doubles play before winning five singles matches—three decided by straight sets—to move to 14-3 overall and remain undefeated at 5-0 within league competition.

Ferris State Bulldogs Women’s Tennis participates regularly against regional and national opponents as part of NCAA Division II events within its conference structure according to the official website. The program operates as a collegiate women’s tennis team that utilizes dedicated training facilities according to its official site.

Additionally, Ferris State Bulldogs Women’s Tennis earned GLIAC All-Academic honors for its student-athletes during the current academic year according to university records.

Both teams are scheduled to host Wayne State for their final regular season contests on Saturday, April 18 at FSU’s Racquet & Fitness Center.
