The Ferris State University men’s and women’s tennis teams earned wins against Davenport on March 27 during Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play at the Grand Rapids Racquet Club.
These results are important as they strengthen both teams’ standings in their conference. The men’s team achieved a 7-0 sweep, marking their first league win of the season, while the women’s team secured a 5-2 victory to improve to 2-0 in GLIAC competition this year.
During the men’s match, Ferris State won all three doubles flights for an early lead and swept all six singles positions. Kevin Kovacs won his singles match in three sets with scores of 6-1, 3-6, and 6-3. With this result, the men’s team improved its overall record to 10-3 for the season.
In women’s action, Ferris State also claimed all three doubles contests before winning four out of six singles matches. Madeline Peisley and Yara Madi secured victories at first and second singles respectively after close third-set battles. The women’s team’s overall record now stands at 8-5.
Ferris State Bulldogs Women’s Tennis operates as a collegiate program aligned with Ferris State University and competes within NCAA Division II as part of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, facing both regional and national opponents according to the official website. The Bulldogs’ student-athletes have also received GLIAC All-Academic honors during the current academic year according to the official website.
Looking ahead, Ferris State is scheduled to face Grand Valley State on March 28 for another round of league competition starting at 5 p.m.
