Ferris State tennis teams lead Eckerd before weather suspends Florida matches

The Ferris State University men’s and women’s tennis teams were leading their matches against Eckerd in Florida on March 13 when weather forced both contests to be suspended. The Bulldogs held a 3-1 advantage in the men’s match and a 3-2 lead in the women’s match before play was halted. Neither match will be completed.

These matches marked the end of Ferris State’s spring break trip, with both squads showing strong performances before the interruption. The outcome is significant as it highlights the teams’ competitive form ahead of their return to conference play.

In doubles action for the men, Felipe Iser and Kevin Kovacs secured a win at two doubles, while Kacper Pasielak and Jose Perez won at three doubles. Kovacs also claimed victory at one singles with a straight-set score of 6-2, 6-2. On the women’s side, Maria Fernanda Hernandez Ferrer and Ana Sofia Hernandez Ferrer won at number one doubles, with Ayva Johnstone and Madeline Peisley taking the second doubles spot. In singles play, Peisley earned a straight-set win at one singles, while Yada Mari won at two singles.

The Bulldogs are set to resume competition in Michigan as they begin Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play. The women’s team will face Saginaw Valley State on March 19 before both teams travel to Davenport on March 27 and Grand Valley State on March 28.

Ferris State Bulldogs Women’s Tennis participates in NCAA Division II competitions within the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, facing regional and national opponents according to the official website.
