Ferris State tennis teams defeated by St. Mary’s in Florida matches

The Ferris State University men’s and women’s tennis teams faced defeats against St. Mary’s (Texas) during their spring break trip to Florida. The matches took place on Friday, March 14.

The men’s team experienced a 5-2 loss. Erik Kovacs and Kevin Kovas secured a victory in the number one doubles flight with a 6-0 score, but St. Mary’s claimed the doubles point by winning at the second and third positions. In singles, Erik Kovacs achieved a straight-set win at the third flight, while Jose Andres Perez Alarcon won in three sets at five singles.

In the women’s match, St. Mary’s also won the doubles point by taking victories at the second and third spots. FSU’s Maria Fernanda Hernandez Ferrer and Kennedy Dumas managed a 7-5 win at one doubles. Yara Madi provided Ferris State’s only singles victory with scores of 6-1, 2-6, 7-6 at two singles.

This match concluded the men’s team’s trip to Florida, while the women’s team is set to face Indiana (Pa.) on Saturday, March 15.
