Ferris State tennis teams defeat Roosevelt, boost season records in GLIAC

Ferris State University’s tennis teams achieved success over the weekend with both the men’s and women’s squads securing victories against Roosevelt University on Saturday near Chicago. The women’s team emerged victorious with a 6-1 score, while the men’s team won 5-2. These matches were significant as Roosevelt is a newcomer to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

Following these wins, both Ferris State teams hold an 11-6 season record. The women’s squad has a 6-1 standing in conference play, while the men hold a 5-1 record within the GLIAC.

In the women’s competition, Ferris State won two of the three doubles flights to gain an early advantage and went on to claim victory in five out of six singles matches. The men’s team secured the doubles point by winning the first and third flights, subsequently taking the top three singles positions and one additional singles match for their overall win.

Both teams are scheduled to close out the GLIAC regular season with matches against Wayne State in Detroit on Friday, April 18. The women’s match begins at 10 a.m. ET, followed by the men’s match at 2 p.m. ET.
