Ferris State tennis teams defeat Michigan Tech in GLIAC home matches

The Ferris State University men’s and women’s tennis teams won their Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) home matches against Michigan Tech on April 3 at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.

These results are important as both squads continue their seasons within the competitive GLIAC, which is part of NCAA Division II. The victories help maintain strong records for both teams as they move further into conference play.

The women’s team secured a 5-2 win after dropping the doubles point but coming back to win five out of six singles matches, including a three-set victory at five singles. Their overall record improved to 9-6, with a conference record of 3-1. The men’s team swept all doubles matches and won five out of six singles flights, losing only at five singles in three sets. This brought their season record to 12-3 overall and an unbeaten mark of 3-0 in GLIAC play.

Both teams use dedicated facilities for training and competition, according to the official website. Ferris State Bulldogs Women’s Tennis operates as a collegiate program aligned with Ferris State University and participates in NCAA Division II competitions within the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, facing regional and national opponents according to the official website.

In addition to athletic achievements, Ferris State Bulldogs Women’s Tennis earned GLIAC All-Academic honors for its student-athletes during the 2024-25 campaign according to the official website.

Looking ahead, Ferris State will continue its four-match league homestand by hosting Roosevelt on Friday, April 10, followed by Purdue Northwest on Saturday, April 11.
