The Ferris State University softball team swept visiting Roosevelt in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader at the FSU Softball Field on April 26. The Bulldogs improved their record to 29-18 overall and 15-7 in conference play after winning both games.
The wins are significant as they mark back-to-back weekend sweeps for Ferris State, following two victories against Parkside the previous day. This performance continues a strong run for the Bulldogs, who have now won nine of their last eleven games this season.
In Sunday’s first game, pitcher Cecelia Bell threw a perfect five-inning shutout with no hits or walks allowed. First baseman Alexis Kozlowski led the offense with three hits, including a two-run homer and two doubles. Designated player Molly Versluis contributed two hits and three runs batted in. The Bulldogs finished with nine total hits in the opener.
During the second game, Ferris State secured a 6-1 victory by scoring five runs in the fifth inning to break open a close contest. Right fielder Ella McDonald and outfielder Ava Gardner each had two hits and an RBI, while freshman pitcher Katie Shuboy earned her eleventh win of the year by allowing only one earned run over seven innings.
The Ferris State Bulldogs women’s softball program participates in both conference and non-conference games throughout its season according to the official website.
