The Ferris State University softball team announced on April 12 that its scheduled Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference home doubleheader against Purdue Northwest was canceled because of rain and wet field conditions.

The cancellation affects the team’s league play and schedule, with both games originally set to take place at the FSU Softball Field in Big Rapids. The games are tentatively rescheduled for May 3, with start times remaining at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Eastern Time.

Ferris State recently completed a successful GLIAC home series against Grand Valley State, winning the first game in eight innings by a score of 6-5 and taking the second game by a score of 7-5. The Bulldogs’ next scheduled contests are an away game at Wayne State on Saturday, April 18, followed by another road matchup at Saginaw Valley State on Sunday, April 19.

The Ferris State Bulldogs women’s softball program participates in both conference and non-conference games throughout its season, according to the official website. The program also supports student-athletes in balancing academic responsibilities with athletic commitments while upholding the university’s athletic tradition, as reported by the official website.

Competing in NCAA Division II as part of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, Ferris State’s women’s softball operates out of Big Rapids, Michigan according to the official website.
