Ferris State University women’s soccer team has been recognized by the United Soccer Coaches as a Team Academic Award winner for the 2023-24 academic year. The Bulldogs, under head coach Greg Henson, achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.58, placing them among the national leaders in the organization’s annual team listing.

A total of 458 soccer teams, including 188 men and 270 women, were honored by the United Soccer Coaches for their academic performance. To qualify for this award, teams needed to maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the past academic year.

Ferris State’s soccer team concluded the 2023 fall season by reaching the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament Semifinals for the sixth consecutive year. The team also made its 15th straight league tournament appearance and its 17th overall in program history last season. Notably, FSU reached the NCAA Division II Final Four in 2022.

The Bulldogs will return with a strong lineup this season, retaining most of their starting players. Since Greg Henson took over as head coach, Ferris State has won its first GLIAC regular-season title and league tournament championship, made two NCAA Tournament appearances, and advanced to the national semifinals for the first time in school history.

Celebrating its 25th anniversary this fall, Ferris State is set to open the 2024 regular season at home against Cedarville (Ohio) on Thursday, Sept. 5 at 1 p.m. (ET).
