Ferris State University announced on May 1 that its men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams concluded competition at the 2026 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships in Allendale. The men’s team finished sixth with a total of 52 points, while the women’s team placed eighth with 10 points over the two-day event.
The performance highlights Ferris State Bulldogs Women’s Track and Field’s ongoing participation at the varsity level in NCAA Division II as members of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, according to the official website. The program is affiliated with Ferris State University and maintains its NCAA Division II status through this conference partnership, per the official website.
During the championships, freshman Trevor Smith secured second place in the men’s 100 meters with a time of 10.51 seconds and fourth in the 200 meters. Smith was also named Freshman Track Athlete of the Meet by GLIAC officials. Other notable performances included Hunter Richardson finishing fourth in discus and placing within the top six for both hammer throw and shot put events. On relay teams, Segaar, Langland, Berney, Seifferlein (4×400), Rogers, Guysi, Floriano, and Smith (4×100) contributed to third- and fifth-place finishes respectively.
For Ferris State’s women’s team, Whitney Farrell achieved third place overall in the 3,000-meter steeplechase while meeting an NCAA Division II National Provisional qualifying standard. Additional results saw Sadie Larson take sixth in hurdles; Raquel Hernandez finish eighth in discus; Lacey Zimmerman ninth in the 200 meters; Angela Kotecki ninth in long jump; and a ninth-place result for their relay squad.
