Ferris State University announced on April 26 that its men’s golf team has received a bid to participate in the 2026 NCAA Midwest/Central Super Regional, which will be held May 7-9 at the university’s own Katke Golf Course.
The selection places Ferris State among 80 teams and 32 individual student-athletes competing in regional play, according to the announcement from the NCAA-II Men’s Golf Selection Committee. This marks the Bulldogs’ 21st appearance in the NCAA postseason over the past 23 years.
The Midwest/Central Regional event will feature ten teams from both regions and four individuals from each region competing over a three-day, 54-hole tournament. The top three teams and top two individuals not with a qualifying team from each region will advance to the finals scheduled for May 18-22 at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Nevada. Additional team berths for nationals will be determined based on prior championship results, with no more than seven teams allowed per region.
Ferris State is seeded sixth among Midwest Region teams, joining programs such as Grand Valley State, Findlay, Missouri S&T, Missouri-St. Louis, Rockhurst, Davenport, Tiffin, Wayne State (Michigan), and Hillsdale. Central Oklahoma leads Central Region qualifiers. Recent history shows consistent performance by Ferris State; they finished fifth in their region last year before placing ninth nationally.
The Bulldogs’ participation is part of their regular season tournaments schedule as described by the official website. The program contributes to Ferris State University’s athletic heritage according to university sources and supports student-athletes balancing academics with athletics as noted by Ferris State. The team competes within NCAA Division II and is a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference according to school information, operating out of Big Rapids, Michigan according to official records.
Further details about this year’s super regional tournament are expected as preparations continue.
