Registration is underway for the 2024 Men’s Basketball Alumni & Friends Outing, scheduled for July 24 at Ferris State University’s Katke Golf Course. The event, known as The Stephen Scholler Wells Fargo Advisors Men’s Basketball Golf Outing and presented by Conlan Tire, will feature a four-person scramble format. It serves as one of the primary fundraising events for the men’s basketball program.
“This outing has propelled us to the NCAA Tournament eight of the past 10 seasons and we look forward to seeing everyone at this golf outing,” said FSU head coach Andy Bronkema. “The support we generate from this event is a huge boost to our program and our student-athletes trying to maintain and build on our championship success.”
The 18-hole outing will commence with registration at 8:30 a.m., followed by a rules meeting at 9:45 a.m., and a shotgun start at 10 a.m. Over the past eight years, nearly 150 golfers have participated annually.
“The participation from everyone involved last year propelled us to a historic season with 28 wins, the GLIAC Tournament Championship, and an NCAA Regional Championship,” added Bronkema. “We hope everyone can participate again and assist us in our efforts to return back to the D2 Elite Eight.”
The entry fee is $110 per person or $440 per team, which includes golf with a cart, refreshments throughout the day, and a postgame luncheon at Buffalo Wild Wings. Prizes will be awarded for team and individual performances.
Business and individual sponsorships are available, including tee sponsorships starting at $125 or corporate packages that include foursomes starting at $500. A special bundle package offering additional benefits is also available for an extra $160 per team.

Katke Golf Course spans over 6,847 yards and has received accolades such as Mecosta Country Peoples’ Choice Awards for favorite golf range and course. Designed by Robert Beard in 1974, it has undergone significant renovations since 2004.
Ferris State’s men’s basketball team recently concluded their season with notable achievements including winning both the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament Championship and the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional title. They finished with an overall record of 28-8.
