The Ferris State University women’s tennis team faced Eastern Michigan University in a pair of exhibition matches on Saturday, January 18. The matches were held at Eastern Michigan, a Division I school, and resulted in victories for the host team.

Eastern Michigan secured a 7-0 win in the first match against Ferris State. In the second match, EMU claimed a 4-0 victory. “We played two matches today against Eastern Michigan,” said FSU head coach Mark Doren. “This is exactly why we play exhibitions against division one schools. We got so much needed experience and I was so impressed with the fight from our whole team today. The scores don’t do it justice of how well we played.”

During the initial encounter, EMU won all three doubles contests and all six singles positions in straight sets despite strong efforts from Ferris State players. The second match also saw EMU victorious with a 4-0 scoreline at the Chippewa Club in Ypsilanti.

Ferris State is set to conclude its weekend schedule with another exhibition match against Western Michigan on Sunday, January 19.
