Ferris State University’s men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams completed the first day of competition at the 2026 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships on Saturday, February 28. The event is being held at Saginaw Valley State University and will conclude on Sunday.
After five events in the women’s competition, Ferris State had earned six team points and was in seventh place. The men’s team finished the day with 11 points, placing sixth overall.
Devin Dennison secured third place in the men’s weight throw, earning all-conference honors with a mark of 65-4. In relay events, the men’s distance medley team—composed of Andrew Shafley, Josh Langland, Jared Watchorn, and David Harris—finished fourth with a time of 10:08.52. On the women’s side, Taylor Huntoon, Oliviah Malloy, Abby Griffith, and Olivia Van Denend placed fifth in their distance medley relay with a time of 12:41.77.
Whitney Farrell also contributed to the team’s score by finishing seventh in the women’s 5,000 meters with a time of 17:16.73.
The final day of GLIAC Championships competition is scheduled for Sunday, March 1.
