A significant number of Ferris State University student-athletes have been recognized for their academic achievements in the 2023-24 athletics season. The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has awarded All-Academic and All-Academic Excellence Team honors to 215 students from Ferris State, as announced by the league office.

These honored student-athletes come from 16 of Ferris State’s 17 varsity programs, with NCAA Division I men’s ice hockey being the only exception due to its competition in the CCHA. When including hockey, nearly 250 out of approximately 400 Ferris State athletes were acknowledged for their academic performance this year.

Across the GLIAC, over 2,000 all-academic recognitions were distributed among student-athletes. At Ferris State specifically, 89 individuals were named to the GLIAC All-Academic Team while another 126 received recognition on the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team.

The criteria for these honors require that a student-athlete must be an active roster member at season’s end and not be a freshman or first-year transfer. The All-Academic Teams consist of those with a cumulative GPA between 3.0 and 3.49, whereas Academic Excellence Teams are composed of those with GPAs ranging from 3.50 to 4.0.

Throughout the fall, winter, and spring sports seasons in this academic year, Ferris State saw a total of 215 student-athletes featured on all-academic teams: with representation from fall sports totaling 88 recipients, winter sports contributing another 60 honorees, and spring sports adding up to 67 individuals.
