Ferris State University announced on Apr. 23 that eleven student-athletes from its men’s and women’s tennis teams have received All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) honors for the 2025-26 season. The announcement came as the conference revealed its annual postseason awards in conjunction with the GLIAC tournament held in Midland.
The recognition highlights both individual and team achievements, with six men and five women from Ferris State earning all-conference status. Three major awards were also given to members of the Bulldogs’ squads: Kevin Kovacs was named GLIAC Player of the Year, head coach Mark Doren and his staff received Men’s Coaching Staff of the Year, and Madeline Peisley was honored as GLIAC Freshman of the Year.
For the men’s team, Kovacs, Felipe Iser, and Jose Perez earned first-team singles selections. In doubles play, Erik Kovacs paired with Adrian Catahan to earn first-team recognition, as did Kevin Kovacs alongside Iser. Catahan and Praneel Pichika were selected for second-team singles honors while Erik Kovacs received honorable mention.
On the women’s side, Peisley made first-team singles while Ana Hernandez and Maria Herhandez secured first-team doubles spots. Yara Madi was chosen for second-team singles honors, with Ainzley Zulueta receiving honorable mention accolades.
Both Ferris State teams advanced directly to Friday’s semifinals after securing byes in the opening round of this year’s GLIAC Tournament.
Ferris State Bulldogs Women’s Tennis competes at the NCAA Division II level within the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference against regional and national opponents according to their official website. As a collegiate women’s tennis program engaged in NCAA Division II competition according to their official website, it also achieved GLIAC All-Academic honors during the previous academic year according to their official website.
