On April 18, Scholten praised the work of the Muskegon Innovation Hub at Grand Valley State University, stating, “The Muskegon Innovation Hub at @GVSU is truly one-of-a-kind! I’m so impressed by the work they do to support small businesses and entrepreneurs through programming, grants, coaching, and more. Keep innovating!”

Later the same day, she tweeted about her meeting with women business owners in West Michigan, saying, “Women business owners in West Michigan sat down with me to share their economic concerns—and their drive to keep growing. Thanks to WZZM13 for joining us and highlighting their voices. Check it out:” showcasing their dedication and determination.

In another tweet, Scholten addressed potential cuts to Medicaid, emphasizing the risk to healthcare for children and employment in her district. She stated, “Cuts to Medicaid would threaten children’s health care and jobs that employ hardworking West Michiganders. I’m pushing back to any proposed cut on Medicaid funding.” She encouraged those impacted to share their stories, providing a platform for constituents who may be affected by such changes.

Hillary Scholten, a Grand Rapids native, has been serving in Congress since 2023 after succeeding Peter Meijer. She’s known for her educational background with a BA from Gordon College and a JD from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Scholten resides in Grand Rapids, bringing both her local roots and academic credentials to her legislative role.
