Today, we honor that legacy by continuing the work toward racial justice.”
Later that day, she acknowledged local efforts to combat racial inequality in West Michigan. In her tweet at 16:05 UTC, she expressed gratitude towards community leaders saying “West Michigan has so many great partners working to end racial inequality in our world. Thanks to Eric Brown from @UrbanLgGR and Jamon Alexander with @wmcat for speaking on what Juneteenth means to all of us.”
In another post made at 20:52 UTC on the same day, Scholten highlighted an initiative aimed at promoting renewable energy in Grand Rapids. She wrote about her involvement with Vincity Energy’s electrification plans stating “Vincity Energy is electrifying Grand Rapids! ️ I was proud to stand alongside local partners to kick off their electrification plans with the installation of a 9MW electric boiler, in line with Grand Rapids’ plans to reach 100% renewable energy.”
